Medacom College has received a $102,000 grant to run a pre-apprenticeship this summer for the MAT2 mechatronics program. This grant will cover 18 students’ tuition for 8 credits, housing, a personal computer, team-building training, job-shadowing, textbooks and engineering kits, a $200 weekly stipend and more.
The program will run for 12 weeks, June 4 – August 24 and during that time students will earn 8 credit hours taking three courses: Fundamentals of Engineering, Introduction to Fabrication, and Principles of Industrial Safety.
This grant was created to combat a significant professional trades shortage in Michigan that is expected to continue through 2024.
